With the immense global trend of urbanization, interior design has never offered more opportunities to reshape how people live. This program will equip you with the conceptual, theoretical, and technical knowledge necessary to advance in a career at the intersection of space and people—across private, public, residential, and commercial environments.

Comprehensive course modules cover the full interior design process, from ideation and project development to on-site execution. Our lecturers are experienced professionals from the region, and you’ll also have the opportunity to learn from guest speakers from around the world who will visit Molèn during the semester specifically for you.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Introduction to Interior Design
Familiarization with the basics of interior design, its methods and goals. Introduction to key interior design concepts and their role in contemporary life. Overview of platforms and tools available to designers. Social and cultural aspects of design.

Interior Design Styles
A survey of key styles and an analysis of their visual characteristics. Identifying style elements through real-world project examples. Analysis of current design trends.
Homework: Create a moodboard.

Design Process Phases
Analysis, conceptualization, development, realization. Understanding the designer’s role as a creator, organizer, and communicator. Design brief, moodboard creation, inspiration gathering.

Concept Development
Design rules. Organizing for UX (User Experience), analyzing space and its characteristics. Understanding proportions, identifying potentials and limitations.

Space Planning According to User Needs
Designing various types of rooms: living room, dining area, kitchen, bedroom, workspace, and bathroom. Merging functionality with aesthetics. Interior analysis—what works well, what doesn’t, and how client input influences design.

Materials, Colors, Textures
Defining the materialization of a space. How materials affect users. Overview of flooring, wall, and ceiling materials. Creating material palettes and integrating them into the design concept. Sustainable and recyclable materials (eco-design). Role of color in space. Color psychology, harmony, contrast, lighting effects. Material finishes—textures, leveling, practicality, and aesthetics.

Interior Elements: Lighting
Introduction to natural and artificial lighting concepts, planning lighting layers (ambient, task, accent). Technical and aesthetic aspects of lighting. How light influences user mood.

Interior Elements: Decoration
Artworks, plants, books, and decorative items as the finishing layer of a design. Tips for personalizing space through detail.

Interior Elements: Furniture
Furniture types and styles, standalone and built-in pieces. Principles of layout, proportions, and functionality. Choosing pieces that support the concept and organization. Designing kitchens, bathrooms, and custom-built elements. Technical and aesthetic integration into the design.

Project Execution: Sketches & Technical Drawings
Introduction to technical drawing and reading blueprints. Developing visual presentation skills. Basic principles of dimensions, elevations, and sections.

3D Visualization
Essential tools and techniques for 3D space visualization. Creating renders that clearly communicate atmosphere and concept.

Budget Planning
How to create cost specifications and plan a realistic project budget.

Construction & Supervision
Project implementation process—collaboration with contractors, quality control, and resolving unexpected challenges on-site.

Final Project Preparation
Platforms and tools for research and inspiration. Where to find knowledge and ideas—professional and amateur platforms, networking tools, publications, and current trends (Pinterest, ArchDaily, Instagram, magazines, books…).

The program also covers the basics of AutoCAD, enabling participants to complete homework assignments and develop their final project. To work with this software, participants are required to obtain an appropriate version of the program (trial or available) before starting work on their projects.

Upon completion, all regular participants will receive an official certificate from Molèn Academy.

Note: Due to the quality of lectures and workshops, the number of in-person seats is limited to 9 participants only.

In-person lectures are held in Belgrade, once a week from 17:30 to 21:00, over the course of five months, at the Molèn Academy premises.

€1430 + VAT, payable in five monthly installments.
